When we woke up and checked the Whig-Standard, not only did they have an article, it was a Front page, continues on page 7, with 2 pictures! Here we thought we were tilting at windmills, but then we found out we had become a human interest story!

The one thing that surprised me was the gratitude and pride everyone we met seemed to have in what we were doing. My company (Rogers Wireless Express) without hesitation let me take time off to go make sure everything went well and document to carcass removal. They even let me use the company VW Bug which my kids loved! CKWS-TV called to find out where and when to have a reporter there

When Dawne and the kids drove out for around 12, the Hydro One truck was already there. Mayor Lowry had checked in with me that morning to make sure the gates were going to be open and to keep me in the loop. And I made sure Michael Lea knew when then removal would be as well.

After Sue got the carcass back to Napanee and investigated it, she found burn marks and bruising, which suggested to her strongly that the cause of death was, as we suspected, being hit by fireworks.
