Meeting the dad April 9, 2011

While discussing my obsession with photographing anything that flies, a friend mentioned a nest of Osprey in the Amhestview ball diamond.  They return every year for at least the last 5 years.  Intrigued, on the next sunny day I set out with my camera and my two daughters and was treated to a single male Osprey, working on a nest.  The obsession begins!

The male Osprey checks the progress on the nest he is repairing for his mate.

A nearby soccer field light provides a resting place as he tries to stay out of range of my camera.

You can clearly see a small piece of fish caught in his left foot.  He would periodically stop and have a snack.

A nice view of his chest.  The male Osprey lack a "Necklace" of darker feathers that typify the female of the species.

Sticks and twigs knocked out of nearby trees form some of the nesting material.

This appears to be a dried stalk from nearby corn fields.
